 
Apple House Kyoto is in a quiet residential
neighbourhood in the northeast of Kyoto, in the foothills of Mt.
Hiei. Many of Kyoto's famous temples and shrines are on the east
and north, so you will have walking and cycling access to numerous
famous sights, and transportation links to anywhere else.

Arriving by train
at Kyoto Station: Please take the subway
(Karasuma Line ) north to Matsugasaki Station. We will pick you
up there.
Getting around Kyoto:
Riding a bicycle is the best way to explore Kyoto's wonderful back
streets, and we provide two bicycles free of charge.
Otherwise....
Bus
The nearest bus stop, Shugakuin Rikyu
michi, is just 5 minutes walk from Apple House. The frequent
Number 5 bus runs south along Kyoto's eastern side past the Silver
Pavilion "Ginkakuji" (
10 minutes ), Nanzenji, the zoo, Heian Shrine, and towards
the nightlife and shopping districts of Gion ( 30 minutes ),
Shijo-Kawaramachi and on southwards to Kyoto Station. There is
a bus every 10 minutes during the day.
Train
Shugakuin station is 10 minutes walk from
Apple House and has an excellent train service south to Demachiyanagi
( 8 minutes - convenient for the Imperial Palace and Kyoto University
). Here you can change to the Keihan Line which leads to Sanjo-Keihan,
Gion and on to Central Osaka ( about 55 minutes by express
). Heading north from Shugakuin you will arrive in the wonderful
village of Kurama, with its traditional houses, temple and
hot springs.
Taxi
Public transport from the city center back
to Shugakuin finishes at around 11:15 p.m. Taxis are plentiful
and cost ( approximately ) ¥2,300 from Gion or Shijo-Kawaramachi
after midnight. |
